Magellan’s Cross. A historical and religious landmark, the cross is enshrined inside a kiosk with its ceiling attractively painted with historical facts depicting the beginning of Christianity in the country.

Basilica del Sto. Niño. A testimony to the religiosity of the Cebuanos, the church houses the oldest Christian relic in the country—the image of the Sto. Niño (Infant Jesus).  It is believed to be Magellan’s baptismal gift to Queen Juana.  A mardi gras festival, the Sinulog, honors the Sto. Niño every January.

Fort San Pedro. Now developed into a park, Fort San Pedro is a vestige of Spanish colonial command which was primarily built to protect the settlers from invading pirates.

Taoist Temple. Standing on a well-manicured garden, the temple is a showcase of elegant Chinese architecture. It was built in the 1950’s by a group of Chinese devotees.

Mactan Island. This beautiful island is home to world-class beach resorts and luxurious international hotels like Shangri-la and Hilton.  Those who love the sea can indulge in scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing and windsurfing.  Mactan is also known for its guitar-making industry.

Olango Island. A 920-hectare protected wetland, Olango island is a declared bird sanctuary.  Hosts of migratory birds visit this exotic island during different parts of the year.
