Day 1 in Cebu
Arrive the Queen City of the South. Hotels in Cebu observe international standard check-in time at 1400H. If you have booked a morning flight, you can ask the Green Earth Team to move your tour on the first day, upon arrival so you will not have a long waiting time prior check-in.
Day 2 in Cebu
Have your breakfast at the hotel or resort. Get to know Cebu for a day and appreciate its strong history and culture. Visit centuries-old spots like the Basilica Minore del Sto Nino, Fort San Pedro, and the Magellan’s Cross. These spots are so intimately tied with the Spanish Conquest of the Philippines, and consequently the birth of Christianity.
Colonial buildings may be found in the downtown area of the city, and you will be taken to Casa Gororodo, which was the residence of Cebu’s first Bishop, and which is now a museum displaying household implements, antiques, furniture and the like.
Pass through the Parian Monument via Colon, the oldest street not only in Cebu but in the entire Philippines. Pass through the magnificent structure of the Cebu Provincial Capitol. Head to the Taoist Temple, which offers you an insight of how the Chinese culture has wonderfully been interwoven in the Cebuano fabric.
Proceed to Mactan and learn what makes the Cebuano guitar world-class. Purchase one if you like, or get a ukulele instead. Also see the Magellan’s Marker and the Lapu Lapu Shrine in Punta Engano and take yourself back in time to the very place where the famous Battle of Mactan happened.
On your back to the hotel, notice the juxtaposition of the old and the new. Cebu boasts not only a rich culture, but also a modern vibe as can be seen in its malls, the I.T. Park as well as in its bars and restaurants at night.
Day 3 in Cebu
For those on a short vacation, alas it is your time to leave. Know though that Cebu is always waiting to welcome you back.
Standard check-out time at hotels is 1200H. For those who booked afternoon or evening flights out of Cebu, you can leave your luggage at the hotel or resort concierge and go shopping for souvenirs like fresh and dried mangoes, otap, rosquillos and lechon (yes, you can have them packed well to bring home!). Those into crafts can rejoice as there are world class designers from which you can get your home and fashion accessories made of local materials.
